What a heating-maintenance visit should clarify in writing

Ask for the equipment identification, completed maintenance scope, findings and follow-up recommendations in a clear heating service record.

A heating-maintenance record should say what equipment was serviced, what work was completed and what remains recommended or unresolved. A general line saying service done does not distinguish inspection findings from repairs.

Clarify the completed scope

Ask which tasks were performed under the booked service and which observations were made. Identify the equipment and retain the date. If additional work is recommended, ask for the findings and proposed scope before authorizing it.

Keep homeowner care guidance separate from technician-only work. The record should make clear which routine actions follow the manufacturer's instructions and which require a service appointment.

Keep the next steps specific

Ask what to monitor, when the applicable guidance calls for maintenance and how to report a concern. Do not turn a generic recommendation into a guaranteed interval for every component.

If the appointment followed a symptom, record whether that symptom was assessed or whether the visit covered maintenance only. These are different outcomes and should not be conflated.

Review heating maintenance services and contact The Heater Guys with the equipment details and any symptoms when arranging the visit.
